Fractured Space Officially Launches

After two years in Early Access, helped along by the feedback of a player base in excess of half a million, Fractured Space has now gone gold for it full-blown release. With the launch comes a collection of new features, including Co-Op and solo play vs bots, player drafting and a whole host of gameplay enhancements.

“Our Fractured Space journey started with a small studio, a love for sci-fi and the passion to create the space MOBA game we always wanted to play,” said James Brooksby, CEO of Edge Case Games. “With the support of our player community feeding into our Open Development philosophy, nearly 100 updates over two years have brought us to launch with intense team-based battles between teams of giant capital ships vying to dominate sectors, win ship-to-ship battles and achieve ultimate victory by destroying the enemy’s base station.”

There are two modes to the game at launch. Conquest mode, which is the main mode, offers varied gameplay possibilities with three lanes, five sectors and an epic endgame scenario to destroy the enemy base. The streamlined Frontline mode, available to players level 8 and higher, has a single lane and a 10-minute limit for capturing the enemy base before the game goes to sudden death overtime. In both modes, a sleek new UI experience delivers players the info they need during matches, and all matches have been tweaked to accelerate early game progress. New kill screen graphics show players how their ship went down in a fiery ball of armageddon and spectator mode cameras now let streamers present the game in a more cinematic light.

Players can also now pair up to join a team together, assemble five friends to go into a match as a united team or even set up a custom match for ten players. The new Zarek Paragon ship joins the fray, giving players more options among the more than 30 “equal but different” ships that range across light, medium and heavy classes with a range of functions. Players can choose from damage-dealing cruisers, long range snipers, helpful support ships or more specialized spaceships that can cloak to ambush, grapple another ship to pull it close or blink to surprise attack and escape.

Edge Case Games promises that many more features will continue to be added after launch, including the ability to draft different sectors before a match to choose a configuration suiting your team’s play style. The battle to dominate space has begun—jump in and help your team to fight to victory!
