Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Comic-Con Trailer

Quite probably to nobody's surprise, the 75th anniversary of Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27 (1939) has filled the San Diego Comic Convention with Batman. There is a hall devoted to things from the Batman movies including capes and cowls, there is playable code for Batman Arkham Knight a whole host of panels about the Dark Knight and the trailer that kicked off the whole shebang was Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

We see the Justice Leaguers who were in Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, The Flash and Batman. Robin is also there, along with Plastic Man. Villains include Joker, Lex Luthor, Cheetah, Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy and presumably Atrocitus of the Red Lanterns and Brainiac given the enemies shown.

It will include flying sections, the usual beating-up of thugs, costume changes. Each one presumably has a different power as well as colour - or turning Cyborg into a washing machine.

The list of 150 characters hasn't been revealed, but here are who we know will be in the game:

Adam West
Alfred Pennyworth
Arkillo
Aquaman
Atom
Batcow
Batman
Classic Batman
Batman of Zur-En-Arrh
Bat-Mite
Bleez
Booster Gold
Brainiac
Cheetah
Cyborg
Firefly
Flash
Green Lantern
Joker
Joker Henchman
Killer Croc
Krypto
Lex Luthor
Lexbot
Martian Manhunter
Mr. Mxyzptlk
Plastic Man
Robin
Classic Robin
Shazam
Billy Batson
Skeets
Solomon Grundy
Superman
Clark Kent
Superboy
Wonder Woman

Given the costumes and the fact Superman and Wonder Woman were on a date, it is clear that this sequel is based on the New 52 DC comic book universe. The previous two were based on the old DCU, despite Lego Batman 2 being released almost a year after the New 52 was established. This changes nothing about the game, but is interesting to comic book fans.

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will launch in the autumn for PS3, PS4, Xbox 260, Xbox One, PC, Wii U and 3DS.
