Report: Agents of Mayhem Developer Hit With Layoffs

The developer of Agents of Mayhem and the Saints Row series, Volition, have laid off around 30 people in the last week according to a report.

The report, posted by Kotaku, claims that of the people laid off from the studio the general manager Dan Cermak was included in this. As a company of around 200 people this is a fair number of people to send home at once. The layoffs are reportedly in response to the poor sales of Agents of Mayhem which only released last month.

According to the multiple sources that spoke to Kotaku the publisher and parent company of Volition, Deep Silver, was not happy with the sale numbers. Though no sale data has been made public, the UK sales charts showed that the game was struggling to make an impact.

There has been no official word from Deep Silver or Volition about the reported layoffs just yet.

Agents of Mayhem is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I wish the game did better than it did... It's a shame it was an open world game, because in-game Seoul is too small.

Yeah it is pretty small but the gameplay is still fun although I haven't quite finished it yet but it was fun completing all the side missions to unlock the characters. I just think that a Saints Row game would have been better especially if it was a reboot that took the series back to its roots before 3.
