Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Offers a 100,000 In-Game Credit Bonus

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Offers a 100,000 In-Game Credit Bonus

It's 20 years this year since the iconic original Tomb Raider was released. The game saw its protagonist Lara Croft turn into a household name, with millions of copies sold. Things may have changed in those 20 years, including Lara herself, but that star quality is something that has persisted. To celebrate, Square Enix are giving bonuses to players of the latest title, Rise of the Tomb Raider as well as releasing a special edition version of that title.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is the most comprehensive version of the latest of Lara's adventures. It includes Rise of the Tomb Raider itself, the new story chapter Blood Ties, Lara’s Nightmare zombie combat mode, PlayStation VR support for Blood Ties, co-op Endurance mode, an “Extreme Survivor” difficulty mode, 5 classic Lara skins, an outfit and weapon inspired by Tomb Raider III, and all of the previously released DLC. The game launches on PS4 October 11th, and the new content will be included as part of the Season Pass on Xbox One and PC.

Whether you buy the special edition or already have the original version, you can bag yourself a share of 100,000 in-game credits to purchase Expedition Card Packs. All you have to do is play Rise of the Tomb Raider any time from launch until Tuesday, October 18th at 11:59pm PST. Every platform in every country is included in this promotion, so whether you’re playing on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, or PC, the only requirement is that you have an internet connection to log into the server.

Sure 100k sounds like a lot, but what are the bets it only buys 5 packs?

Okay, it's not even worth £3.50. Because £3.99 is 150,000 credits...

Some quick calculations make 100,000 credits worth £3.27, which will buy you a Gold Pack and two Silver Packs.

Seems a bit like pinball scores when you get 5 million points for starting a game.

This might actually bring me back to the game considering I still have a few achievements to score in the base game. Never did try the content outside of the main campaign, still remember the second to last boss arena unloading leveling on the boss there and hunting me down in a graphic-less arena of colliders.
