The Silent Hill Website is Up for Sale

The Silent Hill Website is Up for Sale

Between lacklustre instalments following the disbanding of original developers Team Silent, gambling machines, and Hideo Kojima’s cancelled reboot/sequel, most fans of Konami’s iconic horror franchise Silent Hill have come to terms with morbid fact that the series may never see a return to former glory. Now even more hope for an eventual revival has been dashed, with the domain for the official Silent Hill website going up for sale.

A trip to website shows that the domain is purchasable for $9835, meaning that Konami has no interest in keeping the website running. This, of course, doesn’t bode well for any future announcements related to the series, although it doesn’t mean future games are completely off the table either. After all, the company could simply launch a new website if necessary, but if there were currently any plans for future instalments it seems illogical to sell the website off.

Silent Hill was originally released in 1999 for the original PlayStation, and was met with large critical and commercial success due to its unique take on the survival horror genre, focusing more on atmosphere and psychological elements. Since then, the franchise has spawned a total of eight mainline console instalments, as well as numerous spin-offs and two movie adaptations.
