Will Assassin's Creed Shadows Come to Steam for PC?

Will Assassin's Creed Shadows Come to Steam for PC?

The newest instalment coming to Assassin's Creed has finally been announced, and players will be able to jump into Assassin's Creed Shadows surprisingly soon, starting on the 15th of November for standard editions or 12th of November for those who purchase the Gold Edition or higher. Fans of the franchise are ecstatic that the long-since rumoured locale will finally be able to be explored (with generations upon generations of people speculating it would take place in Japan for years now), but the question still burns: will it be coming out on Steam?

Ubisoft has had a bit of a rocky history with Steam over these last few years, having removed all of their games for a period and partnering only with the Epic Games Store for a few years. This was later removed, and many Ubisoft games returned to Steam, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla having joined the mix of various titles that players could pick up. this brought hope to everyone that their latest projects would be joining everyone's choice platform. Unfortunately, hope dwindled when their latest release, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora didn't release on Steam, and it seems like Assassin's Creed Shadows will be following suit.

The short and sweet of it is this: Assassin's Creed Shadows will not be released on Steam on day one. While there's a likelihood that it'll be released sometime down the line, limited-time exclusivity has become the norm for many titles and studios that sport some of their more famous franchises on Steam. Assassin's Creed Valhalla, for instance, was released on Steam two years after its original debut on the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store, so if that were to be the release window, we can expect Assassin's Creed Shadows sometime in 2026.

That said, a Steam release is entirely speculatory at the moment until Ubisoft fully announces it. In the meantime, Assassin's Creed Shadows will only release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Ubisoft+, Macs with Apple Silicon via the Mac App Store, and Windows PC through Ubisoft and the Epic Games Store.
