Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's Resolution Will Dip as Low as 378p

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - the updated re-release of the 2010 cult classic - is releasing on Switch later this week, and an early report due to a leaked version of the game has revealed some important information regarding the titles performance.

This report comes from Twitter user MasaGratorR, who revealed that in docked mode the game would run between 504p-720p, while in handheld it would deviate between 378p-540p. The reason for the resolution fluctuation is to keep the framerate at a stable 30fps, meaning that more dense areas and larger battles will likely drop the resolution slightly, while less intensive moments will see the resolution rise.

It’s worth noting that 2017’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had similar resolution fluctuations, so those who were able to tolerate that game's resolution shouldn’t worry about this upcoming release looking worse.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on 29th May.
