Project Scorpio is Real Coming 2017

It's been long speculated and rumoured for sometime, but now it's official Microsoft have confirmed that Project Scorpio is real and is coming Christmas 2017.

Of course, it isn't an official reveal of the console, not just yet, but we now know it's real and many developers certainly seem very pleased with its promises.

So far what we know is that Microsoft is going all out by creating a system that doesn't compromise. Delivering 4K experience and VR support, Phil Spencer promises the machine will be a beast, and from the specifications we've been given so far it blows out any previous rumours out of the water, even trumping the PS4 Neo's predicated performance.

With 6.4 TFLOPS of power, Microsoft have set the benchmark high for Sony. Not only the machine will feature an eight-core processor - likely the same as current Xbox One, but at a higher-clock, high-bandwidth memory (possible DDR4 or GDDR5).

Compared to the Xbox One's 1.31 TFLOPS of power, that's a massive upgrade and to give some perspective on Scropio's power, with 6.4 TFLOPS that makes the system more powerful than the GTX Titan X which tops at 6.2 TFLOPS and puts it on-par with the recently released GTX 1070 at 6.5 TFLOPs. Now that is impressive.

Let's hope they can deliver and at a reasonable price. More will be revealed next year. But for now though, the ball is in Sony's court for what they can deliver with their PlayStation Neo, that's if they reveal it this year.
