Second Sight Diaries Part Three

Second Sight Diaries Part Three

This is my exploration of Second Sight, where I will chronicle my playthrough like a text-based Let’s Play. Now let’s continue…

After waking up in a hospital with amnesia and psychic powers, John Vattic had discovered that someone he knew had died, so he tried to recall six months ago…

Entering the room behind Jayne Wilde, she examined a dead body. She said that they had been tortured for information about Professor Victor Grienko. Whoever asked the questions was still in the facility, as we heard some noise and went through another door. Some men were searching a workshop, so I shot all four with my Heavy Tranq and picked up their Soviet Rifles.

We went through a hallway and came under fire without being spotted at all. Wilde stood out in the open, getting shot over and over while shouting my name, but she might have helped me dispose of the four hostiles. Since the exit was electronically sealed, she climbed a nearby ladder and found another route, so I followed.

I found a note which asked employees to not leave bottles lying around on the floor, then joined Wilde in a control room. There was a corpse inside along with a locked computer, but she managed to pull the password from the dead guy: “snow”. Since my attempts of “WHATEVER” and “COMPUTER” hadn’t worked, I tried it, getting straight in.

Nothing came up in a search, but in the Wastebasket was grienko_report_draft.text, so I read it. It seemed that Grienko had visited multiple times, attempting to get taken to America. On his last visit, he had brought a child and requested that they be examined by the medical officer, who did so. After the pair were escorted back to Grienko’s research project in Dubrensk, pipeline staff had reported disturbing nightmares, and the medical officer had resigned…

As I showed the report to Wilde, Col. Starke called in via radio and was happy that I reported our safety. However, as it was an unsecured signal, our location was attacked by the enemy forces! It was only a handful of them, so I overpowered them while Wilde once more allowed herself to be a bullet magnet. We went down the ladder where we were ambushed, and through the previously-locked door.

Before I had even opened the door at the end of a corridor, a hail of bullets began. As we fought, Wilde — as was becoming usual — refused to take cover and allowed herself to absorb as much ammunition as possible. I actually stood between her and the enemies before she seemed to realise, then she changed position and actually ducked behind a machine.

As I finished them off, JC Verdes arrived to lead us outside. Starke gave the medic exactly 18 seconds to finish fixing everyone up before telling the squad to move out, presumably following the lead I’d found towards Dubrensk. Wilde thanked me for saving her life — something she didn’t even try to make an easy task — and we headed out.

Back in the present day, Escape began back in the Osiris Medical Facility, Carlton, Virginia, on the 5th of October at 1305hrs. As I recovered from the migraine, I noticed that the computer now listed Jayne Wilde as incarcerated, not killed in action as it had done before my flashback.

Looking her up, it said that she had delusional schizophrenia and was clinically insane. She was being held at Penfold Asylum, Rutland, Vermont, about 600 miles north of me. With good traffic, I could be there in just under 10 hours! But just as I was writing down the details, I heard a door open as two guards entered!

Despite opening a vent beforehand, it was now closed and locked, so I had to sneak past the guards while hidden behind my Charm power. Once I was inside the elevator, I pressed the Door Open button and it started going down. When it reached, presumably, the basement, I cautiously approached a laser fence and touched it, causing me pain. It then kick-started a new power, Projection, which allowed me to pass through and deactivate the fence.

Once past, I reactivated the fence, then projected myself to deactivate several cameras in the area, and deactivate a second laser fence. There were some people between me and safety, but I literally Charmed my way through. Past the fence was a lone guard watching an elevator, so I shot him with a tranquiliser and got on. I needed to project myself over to the switch to make it rise — but it was all for naught as three guards jumped out at me!

The one presumably in charge told Harry — I thought I recognised the hair loss — to keep an eye on me, then turned around. Not that I was in any condition to pay attention, as a migraine dropped me to my knees. Control told the guard to literally not turn his back on me before they took notice of my “fit”, drawing them closer only to be hit by a psionic wave from my new Psi Blast Attack and knocked out!

Since they knew where I was, Control told everyone to make it to the loading bay. I headed up the nearby ramp and barely spotted a guard in time, hiding myself with Charm. I barely passed five of them before my psi power ran out, but I managed to hide behind a crate to wait for it to recharge.

My next obstacle, if you could call it that, was the one patrolling guard and another in a bunker. I simply waited for the one to leave, while Charmed, then pressed a switch to open the gate. But that revealed another guard behind said gate, who almost spotted me before I hid myself again!

As I waited for my psi power to recharge, I overheard a group of guards around the next corner chatting about “everyone” having been called in because of an escaped patient. Despite the four standing facing each other, they didn’t see me get onto an elevator, then press the button via projection.

The loading area ahead of me looked suspicious, so I hid behind a box and projected to scout ahead. Almost every pillar had an armed guard hidden behind it. So, once my psi power had recharged, I charmed my way past them all and hid behind a crate. The ramp heading up also had its share of guards, so I had to Charm and hide a couple of times before I reached a car right at the top, and hopped in, then drove off.

A cutscene began with someone reading top-secret documents about Project: Zener, which mentioned that a subject had been terminated with their brain matter stored separately from the body. Their desk phone rang and it seemed from the one side of the conversation that I was hearing, that my escape was being reported. Without medication, I was a threat and needed to be recaptured by the “lieutenant” quickly…
