Second Sight Diaries Part Two
This is my exploration of Second Sight where I will chronicle my playthrough like a text-based Let’s Play. Now let’s begin…
After waking up in a hospital with amnesia and psychic powers, John Vattic had just had a flashback to how his unremembered ordeal began…
I awoke in the elevator as it reached the ground floor on 5th October at 1150hrs, where a security guard leapt over his desk and pointed a gun at me. I was overcome with pain and thrust out a hand towards him, a wave of energy thrusting him back over the desk. When I recovered, I saw that there was a lot of blood coming from the neck of his unmoving form.

The desk had the name Osiris Medical Research, and as I seemed to be developing more and more psychic powers, I needed to find my patient records. I accessed a computer and first disabled all of the CCTV cameras. One of them was inside the Patients Records Office, so I knew where I needed to head.
The computer also had a warning about me, saying that I was dangerous and people should call for backup. I checked the map and found some brain tissue activity logs and the current conditions of three arboretums. Some standalone screens showed primate brain scans, so I reasoned that I wasn’t the only test subject in the facility.

Accessing the computer behind the front desk, I unlocked the door, then noticed a HyperChat application. Opening it, I found the tail end of a conversation between “LR” and “bunny”, where LR said they would get groceries on the way home, but had to go as the elevator was coming. bunny noticed me logging in and started chatting, but became upset when I didn’t respond. They were concerned, but decided that LR must be busy — yeah, busy being dead — so I quit the program and left through the door.
The hallway led to the front entrance, but at the same moment, three police cars and a black SUV raced up and two security guards opened fire through the windows. I hurried across the foyer and through a door, healing myself when I reached the safety of a hallway. It led into the Biotechnology Division, which was guarded.

As I attempted to sneak my way through, I heard a guard talking to a surgeon about how I was “tanked up on drugs that were only tested on gorillas”. Said drugs were experimental psychogens, and the surgeon blamed the “Agency” for screwing up. However, I was spotted and took out two guards with my new psi attack.
Hurrying through a door, I found myself in a room with two guards, someone in a hazmat suit, and a large, open tank of water. The guards patrolled using the gantry above the water. I took down the three with more psi attacks, then continued through another door.

I skidded to a stop and knocked over a bucket, which alerted a guard. They came towards me to investigate, but I muttered about how he should ignore me, look away, and walk away, and he did so while I flickered in and out of visibility. When he returned to his position, I shot him in the head, but there was no rush, as the door wouldn’t open for a while, which was in the process of decontamination.
Using my abilities, I sped up the process (somehow) by spinning a fan, which opened the door. I telekinetically fiddled with another machine through a window, then a security announcement told some guards to check out why decontamination had finished ahead of schedule. I snuck past the two guards who came to investigate, then headed back the way I had come and towards Patient Records.

With my new stealth ability, Charm, things went well, and I was soon there. However, it was locked, but a note stuck on the wall said that Dr. F. Giddler in primate research had a passcard. Since I didn’t know where that was, I went into the closest lab where I killed two guards and a doctor. Checking the map on a computer, I located the lab and headed for it.
An alarm started going off and a guard called in, spotting me. I killed them and another one, then hid in a nearby cupboard until the thudding music calmed down and I continued on my way. Then blundered into another guard who I had to shoot.

Thankfully, this brought me into the right place and I snuck into the glass room where Giddler was and grabbed a Tranquillizer pistol from a worktop and shot the doctor in the head. He stood, then flopped to the floor, allowing me to pick up a Patient Records Pass Card.
Returning the way I’d come, I cloaked myself with Charm to sneak past a replacement guard and entered the records room. While looking for a computer which was switched on, I noticed a grate covering a ventilation shaft. I figured my best bet going forward would be to open it now, because someone was probably going to come by soon, so I did so before using a PC.

Rather than give me my own file, it brought up details about the classified top secret operation Winter Ice. It listed me as incarcerated, and Jayne Wilde as killed in action… I had another intense migraine and unlocked more memories.
Fieldwork began on 21st February at 1045hrs, on the Huvat Plateau in Tyumen Oblast, Siberia. We were trudging through snow — obviously — and while the soldiers kept their heads on a swivel, me and Wilde chatted. She assured me that I was the only one who could protect them, but as to how and from what she wasn’t certain.

Wilde suddenly said that we were in sudden danger before someone was shot by a sniper, and we dove for cover. Gunfire rained down from several elevated positions, so I put my new weapons knowledge to use by sniping six enemies while Col. Starke kept shouting at me to “keep up” and “get in cover”. This included two enemies hiding inside the cave ahead of us, which may have caused problems if the rest of the squad didn’t notice them.
Since the cave was blocked, Starke told Jackson to blow us a way through, so I got behind cover while he blew a hole. We then went through and came under fire again, so I sniped eight people before Wilde ran off as the others shouted at her. Starke told me to go after her while they provided cover fire, even though it felt like I already had things well in hand all by myself…

I shot two more before reaching the outbuilding which Wilde had gone inside. She told me that she had seen something, but I didn’t let her finish because I somehow knew that the building was about to explode! So, I grabbed her and dove through a floor hatch and to safety just as the building blew up.
As we gathered ourselves, she explained that she had seen a child and told me to trust her, and that I’d understand. We climbed a ladder to find ourselves in a room with some big mechanism related to the hydrocarbon pipeline. I went up some stairs and Wilde called out for me to stop just as a section of pipe exploded right next to where I was standing. I found a Soviet Rifle in a room, along with a first aid kit and a note saying that nobody was permitted to enter the station until they had destroyed “the Professor’s” research.

After activating a lever at the top of a ladder, I returned to Wilde as she entered a newly unlocked door and screamed…
