So I Tried… ScreamRide

So I Tried… ScreamRide

Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never tried before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I went for the Xbox One version of ScreamRide.

What I thought it was

A game where you build a roller coaster designed to kill people. I don't think I'm right on the money, but that's the reason I'm playing this game. I sold slaves in Fallout 3, I'm not a nice person in videogames.

What it actually is

You have three modes, with no apparent story or campaign mode. Screamrider has you control the roller coaster car and get it to the goal. Demolition Expert sees you flying the roller coaster car into a target to cause as much destruction as possible. Finally, Engineer - well, I didn’t really have time to find out about that mode, because I ran out of time. Something along the lines of having to put together a track in a certain way.

Will I keep playing

Honestly, it’s a bit too barebones for me to spend much time on. The three modes are different, but I don’t even really care about the Engineer mode. Destroying things with a roller coaster is fun, of course, but even that needs some variety, as the developer of Danger Zone saw.
