E3 2014: Dragon Age Inquisition Info

Dragon Age: Inquisition has a lot to live up to with the flop that was the second instalment of the franchise. EA and Bioware are determined to give it’s fans everything they’ve wanted for the longest time. To show this we are told, while watching the new gameplay, that console UI has been cleaned up to give as much screen space as possible to the extremely attractive visuals as possible.

That said, visuals are the first really obvious change. The scenery is simply amazingly realistic. Environments look and feel alive. Dragons are also another huge part of the game that people have asked for and again Bioware is listening. With at least three Dragons shown Bioware clearly want to show off their design chops and their ability to flesh out a living breathing world.

Being thrown straight into a fight, we’re shown how the new battle system works. The Dragons are shown to be large hulking creatures that take a lot of firepower to take down. The ability to stop time and enter a more strategic view to line up attack like Dragon Age: Origins. This is also going to be alongside some other interesting tactical changes, like the ability to target certain parts of an enemy.

This is the first of Bioware’s next-gen attempts and we keep hearing that it will be a narrative driven experience, but it’s hard to get a grasp of that from anything we’ve been shown so far. Everything shown so far is pretty impressive. If you’re a fan of all things Dragons then this may be the game you’ve been waiting for.
