Second Sight Diaries Part Eight
This is my exploration of Second Sight, where I will chronicle my playthrough like a text-based Let’s Play. Now let’s begin…
After escaping from a hospital and reuniting with two friends, John Vattic was on the trail of the person behind their recent perils…
It takes a bold person to just walk into the National Security Executive building while the agency is actively searching for them, but I did it anyway as Conspiracy began. It was 2100hrs on 7th October, and I had driven from Queens to New Jersey in about an hour, which was unbelievably fast.

The security guard at the front desk asked if they could help, so I told them that John Vattic wanted to see Director Hanson. They typed in my name and then looked shocked, looking up in time to get pistol-whipped unconscious. I couldn’t access anything on his computer, so I went into the corridor to my right, as the one to my left had a laser grid.
I hid with Charm past an agent and a cleaner, ducking into a storeroom where I found boxes of Universal Video Disks (UVD), so I grabbed one in case it came in handy. Outside, another agent was situated outside of the restrooms, so I Charm’d past him, then hung a left.

Two guards to the right were changing over shifts at the metal detector blocking my way. Apparently, it was glitchy, but a temporary fix kept it in working order. Once the new guard was in position, I shot both him and the agent in front of him with a tranquiliser dart before ducking into a store room near the metal detector.
I couldn’t go through it myself, but I could send my Projection through without setting off alarms. At the far end of the corridor was a hall with a large monitor inside, and outside was a memo from S. Hanson (the director of the NSE) stating that DVDs and VHS cassettes could no longer be used in the multimedia suite, only via the intranet.

Since it was signed with his email address, I figured that was his username too. This came in handy when I took my Projection into the room opposite my hiding place and logged into a computer using it. I disabled the cameras, which would have seen me even while Charm’d, then walked into the room myself.
I tranq’d the cleaner, to ensure she didn’t spot me, but a few moments later an agent came in looking for her! He called out, asking if Sybil was hiding from him “again”, which I did not like the sound of, so I took great joy in tranqing him, too.

The second computer in the room allowed me to access Hanson’s emails, one confirming that a stem cell report would be redone, and the other mentioned funding for the Dubrensk Zener Project, from Captain Peter Militts. It had an attachment, and upon downloading it, I discovered that it was a video file, though the computers couldn’t play them directly.
However, by dragging the file onto the UVD, then going back to the other computer, I was able to set it playing in the multimedia room! Then, thanks to some Telekinesis and the shoddy wiring, I got through the metal detector cleanly and went into the hall.

The video began playing, showing mugshots, DNA sequences, and what appeared to be a cyborg. It ended with a map of the Earth with dots flashing across it, all the while Vattic was freaking out as tense music played over the cutscene. Vattic announced that he had to get back to Dubrensk, then used his psychic powers to travel back in time or something.
Infiltration began back in Dubrensk, Siberia, on 22nd of February at 1005hrs, meaning that it was only half an hour since we sorted out the radio. How time flew…

The injured civilian, who I’d later learn was named Doctor Barranikov, pleaded with us to stop “them” from killing “the children”, however, when Jayne Wilde said that we’d rescue them, Barranikov told us to not go near them, as the children would hurt us. Except for Vattic.
Barranikov rounded on me, saying that I wouldn’t be hurt because I was like them. However, I had to go — alone — to find a key in a red house, and reach the church under the village. They appeared to perish as they handed Jayne the unchained fob watch that I’d seen her carrying in the future/present. I nodded and left, ignoring Colonel Starke’s demand that I return.

Upon reaching the village, I heard a helicopter as the camera showed me multiple snipers guarding the area. There was also a lone soldier patrolling, so I used my Projection to possess him and shoot the others. However, he radioed in saying that there were casualties, even as I sniped him from afar, so I continued on through the streets using my Charm to hide.
I reached a door and went inside the building, finding a memo on a clipboard. It was from “BH” telling the retrieval unit to not damage the escaped subjects unless absolutely necessary.

As I exited the building, a helicopter landed up ahead, guarded by multiple soldiers. I found a list of tissue samples and subjects to be collected, and that the chopper was full of crates, so unlikely to be just for troop transport. I attempted to tranquilise everyone, or possess someone into killing the others, but my attempts all ended with reinforcements being called and intense firefights.
I managed to use Telekinesis to lower a foot bridge, then cross it and make my way to a door. It took me into a thoroughfare with two soldiers, which I had to shoot when I ran out of psi energy. This in turn alerted the soldiers in the area ahead of me, meaning another running gun fight…

However, nobody called ahead to warn the enemies which were in the next area? So, I was able to take my time scouting around with Projection and Charm. I carefully made my way through the crawl space in a fireplace, tranq’d a guard, snuck around into a building opposite the house with a red door, before hiding around the corner from it.
Further up the passage, I found soldiers waiting to ambush me, so I ignored them for now and tried to gain access to the red house, which contained two soldiers. Since one was on the ice below the street, I didn’t want to be spotted, so possessed the lone patrolling soldier and shot him, then tried to enter the red house.

Since the door was barricaded, I assumed that I’d need to use Telekinesis, so let the guard resume his patrol (since shooting through the windows didn’t work). I made my way to one of the windows and figured that I could lift the wood, or distract them with the Matryoshka on a table. While attempting to do so telekinetically, I somehow locked onto the Church Key and pulled it across the room and through the wall, into my hand.
With the awaiting ambush, I simply possessed one of the soldiers and gunned down their friends, as well as one of the two waiting snipers further along. I then tranq’d my victim and sniped the other sniper, before ledge hanging past a blockage, and tranqing another soldier.

There was a communications hub at the end of what might have been a pier, and I was able to use Telekinesis to pull a handle and allow me access. The equipment was broadcasting static, so I turned it off and Starke called through. Barranikov was apparently still alive, as were the others despite a few skirmishes.
We said farewell, and I Projected myself ahead to the church, finding no resistance. However, upon arriving there physically, an armed figure in a Third Echelon cosplay came out firing! They were shielded from my bullets, so I tossed them around with my Telekinesis a bit which somehow removed the shield and allowed me to shoot them.

I went through the building which I thought was the church and found myself in front of the actual church. Two guards stood sentry, so I took them out from afar before entering the graveyard in front of the church. I heard the door open behind me, followed by seeing two more of the special forces cosplayers!
While their shields soaked up about a magazine’s worth of ammo, I managed to take them both down with my abilities and guns. I then unlocked the church and went towards the pulpit. Voices echoed in my head as I looked at the paintings, but I got on the hand crank-powered lift and descended…
