gamescom 2022 Awesome Indies Show: 9 Years of Shadows

Starting with an anime-like cinematic, this trailer by Halberd Studios leads us into some fantastic metroidvania style gameplay that looks fluid and fast paced. I was immediately reminded of Castlevania. The female protagonist known as Europa seems able to morph into different forms depending on the environment. I noticed an almost mermaid-like tail when moving through waterfalls and she seemed able to compress into a ball like Metroids’ Samus when entering tight spaces. Europa will not journey through this land of shadow alone, her childhood companion Apino will join her as she fights the darkness.

9 Years of Shadow will be available on Nintendo Switch, and Steam
