Freebie Feelers... SUPERHOT
Freebie Feelers is a series where we download the free monthly console-specific or newly released free-to-play games to test their worth. This series will contain some useful information as well as plenty of personal opinion. While these articles may not be reviews, we hope that you will be able to use them to help decide whether that free download is worth it.
What is it?
SUPERHOT is a first person shooter unlike any other by offering up a refreshing take on the often same-y genre. Instead of constant, high-octane action that requires twitch-reflexes to do well, SUPERHOT requires players to think about every movement they make as they dodge bullets and kill red guys. This is the ultimate goal after all, dispatch all the enemies in the level to continue to the next. With a narrative that takes place outside of the actual levels you’ll play, this title offers up a truly unique experience.
What did you think?
When time only moves when you do, everything you do is not only extremely important, but equally awesome. The player is made to feel like a badass while playing SUPERHOT. Personally, I loved having shots zip past me as I’d get close enough to my target to beat them down before using the gun they fired at me to take out their buddies. The core gameplay creates a remarkable amount of opportunities for epic and stylish ways to complete each level.
Is it worth downloading?
If flair and slow motion is your thing, grab SUPERHOT now. The title may not be the most difficult, complicated, or even all that long, but it is fun for the duration of the campaign. There is even an optional mode for those that truly love the game. Even if you aren’t normally a fan of first person shooters, I’d suggest you give this game a look just for the over-the-top nature of the gameplay. You’ve got until the 15th of April to pick up SUPERHOT as a part of Xbox’s Game with Gold program.
