Top Games Coming Out in 2022
2022 is a big year for gaming. If not for the many amazing games coming out next year, then the fact that three different GOTY winners will be receiving their sequels (or, in the case of Elden Ring, the next game) and potentially facing each other as a grand finale. Not sure what's coming out, or what to look forward to? Look no further, for here are the top games coming out in 2022!
#1 - Monster Hunter: Rise
Monster Hunter: Rise feels like the perfect sequel to Monster Hunter: World, released exclusively for Nintendo Switch. However, the game now has a Steam release date, and a demo already available to play with five missions including three hunts and co-op.
Monster Hunter: Rise is set to release on PC on the 12th of January on Steam.
#2 - Pokémon Legends: Arceus
January is going to be a spicy month, with not one, not two, but three wonderful and anticipated titles releasing. Although unfortunately the first in the list not getting a PC release, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the next game in the Pokémon universe. It has faced several controversies already, with one of them being its Pokedex seemingly lacking with 400 different Pokémon intended including DLC when Sword and Shield had 400 in the base game - which suffered a controversy of its own for the same problem.
The game will also feature a hub similar to the Monster Hunter franchise instead of the open-world fans were expecting.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released on the 28th of January for the Nintendo Switch.
#3 - Life is Strange Remastered Collection
Life is Strange Remastered Collection will feature both Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm remastered. Some of the improvements include higher quality visuals across the characters and the environments and more fluid character animation.
Life is Strange Remastered Collection is set to release on the 1st of February, on PC, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
#4 - Dying Light 2 Stay Human
Dying Light 2 Stay Human was originally set to release on the 7th of December but has been pushed back to 2022.
The sequel to Dying Light, it will have choices that impact the story and keep us parkouring through "The City," one of the last human settlements. It's one I'm personally very excited for after the original!
Dying Light 2 Stay Human is set to release on the 4th of February on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
#5 - Horizon Forbidden West
You can get off the edge of your seat now, Horizon Forbidden West has made it to the list!
Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to the beloved Horizon Zero Dawn, featuring Aloy in all-new lands with completely new machines and threats! One of the ones I'm most personally excited for, although unfortunately, I will be skipping it due to my incapability to aim with a controller.
That's right, folks! Horizon Forbidden West is being released on the 18th of February, coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Let the tears commence.
#6 - Saints Row
I'm only really adding this one because if I don't my boss will fire me.
Saints Row is the upcoming game from the franchise, coming as a reboot for the Saints Row series! With graphics that will give the game a whole new beautiful look, we'll see if it has what it takes to take down its rival Grand Theft Auto!
Saints Row is set to release on the 25th of February for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
#7 - Elden Ring
Elden Ring is the next FromSoftware game, which will be set in an open world. Apparently, the map is going to be absolutely massive, and it seems to be FromSoftware's biggest game yet. The lore and story were written by none other than George R. R. Martin—writer of A Song of Fire and Ice, the novel that brought Game of Thrones to life—and we couldn't be more excited.
Elden Ring is set to release on the 25th of February, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
#8 - Starfield
Starfield is the newest IP being created by Bethesda that will be set in an all-new space-themed world. An open-world game that Todd Howard himself called "Skyrim in space", it'll feature more than double the dialogue that there was in Skyrim, and more than Fallout 4, with a whopping 150,000 lines.
It has been in development for years and it's finally time we can get our hands on the game on the 11th of November, exclusively on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
#9 - Plague Tale: Requiem
I haven't gotten to play it, but Plague Tale is getting a sequel and I couldn't be more stoked!
Following Amicia and her brother Hugo, you will have to survive on a world infested with carnivorous rats, with graphics that are absolutely jaw-dropping from what we've been able to see.
Much to everyone's dismay, we don't know the official release date for Plague Tale: Requiem, as with the rest of the games on this list. So all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that it's soon! It will, however, be coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
#10 - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Does anyone else remember that really famous movie released 12 years ago? Yeah, it has been 12.
Well, the game is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game based on the Avatar film series. And I'm already sold. We didn't get to see much in the trailer, however a lot of speculation has been made already as to several things that will work as features for the game.
It's being developed by Massive Entertainment and will be published by Ubisoft for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna and Stadia!
#11 - God of War: Ragnarok
I am going to forgive Santa Monica just this once, simply for the fact that they made one of my absolute favourite games of all time, but it's spelt Ragnarök.
God of War: Ragnarok is the sequel to God of War (2018), following Kratos and his son Atreus as they venture through the Nordic apocalypse known as Ragnarök, with a trailer already showcasing many things for the game and a lot of excitement by everyone.
God of War: Ragnarok will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, much to my dismay!
#12 - Hogwarts Legacy
I'm not going to lie to you, I am not too much of a fan of the Harry Potter films as a whole, but boy am I excited for Hogwarts Legacy.
The trailer dropped and shook the whole world. Avalanche Software—the developers for the game—caught the world aback with this massive game set in the late 1800s in Hogwarts, where you'll be able to customize your own character in this single-player RPG game.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
#13 - Marvel's Midnight Suns
I'm a sucker for absolutely anything Marvel, and the fact that it's getting game after game in every genre is really not helping my wallet.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is a tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe, which means we'll be fighting against demonic forces of the underworld, it features several very famous heroes from the Marvel universe, including the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Blade and more.
Marvel's Midnight Suns will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
#14 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Gotta love to hate it, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting its sequel next year, and no list including upcoming games is complete without it.
The sequel to 2017's Game of the Year will be releasing next year, and although I'll personally be skipping this one, I sincerely am excited to see how the story continues to unfold, and am very happy for everyone that is excited for the sequel.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
#15 - Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XV already came out five years ago, despite how crazy that might sound, and it looks like Final Fantasy XVI will be releasing soon as well!
An official blog post was written about all of the things seen in the trailer, ranging from the Mothercrystals, Dominants, Eikons, some information on the main character, and the name of the lands: Valisthea.
No one really knows if Final Fantasy XVI will release in 2022, but much speculation has been given that it will, and we all should have our fingers crossed for that! It will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
That's it for our list of games! I omitted a lot of games to keep it to just 15, so feel free to rage on me in the comments for any game I missed that you wanted to see on the list! Honestly, I'll check it out and see if I should keep my eyes peeled!
