E3 2021: Nintendo Debuts New Shin Megami Tensei V Trailer and Announces Release Date

Developer Atlus debuted a new trailer and gameplay footage for the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V during the Nintendo Direct showcase at E3 2021 on 15th June. The game was originally announced during a Nintendo Switch presentation as Shin Megami Tensei HD on 12th January 2017 but was postponed during development. The game is set to release on 12th November of this year, with pre-orders for physical copies of the game starting 21st June.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the newest entry in the long-standing Megami Tensei JRPG series, a series that is famous for subseries such as the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona franchise (often shortened to Persona) and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series. While not much is known about the game, it is known that Shin Megami Tensei V will continue the tradition of fighting and fusing demons, as well as negotiating with said demons and turning them into powerful allies.

“Another Tokyo exists.” The plot of Shin Megami Tensei V follows an unnamed high school student in Tokyo who is transported to another dimension. The protagonist finds himself in post-apocalyptic Tokyo where he fuses with an unknown figure and gains the power to fight demons, as well as negotiate and ally with them.
