Tips for Disney Dreamlight Valley's Dreamsnaps

Tips for Disney Dreamlight Valley's Dreamsnaps

Gameloft’s Disney-themed life simulator, Disney Dreamlight Valley, has a weekly challenge for players that can net them some Moonstones, the premium currency. If you’re having trouble with that, here are some tips and tricks to make the experience easier!

Take the Pictures up Close

Pictures look better when they’ve got a clear theme and anchor. By using camera tricks, you can take close-ups easily and make the subject of the image the focus point! If you don't know how to do that, I've written a quick guide.

This isn't important just because of composition: a lot of players are on the Nintendo Switch, and their screens are much smaller. With a closer image, they can better discern what they're seeing!

Visibility Is Imperative

Building on the previous point, aside from having the focus of the image be clear, it's a good idea to try to make every element very obvious.

To do this, throw logic out the window: put things in a way they look good in the picture, not how they would be in real life. It's also good to keep an eye on colours, so the focus doesn't blend up into the backdrop!

Play With the Settings

Gameloft has added tons of settings to pictures, and at first, I was overwhelmed and only touched the bare minimum. After making some with my wife, I learned a pivotal lesson: you shouldn't be scared of playing around with the settings.

Even if you think it won't do anything, move the slider and try it out. The in-game Gallery makes it easy to save any you consider good enough so you can compare them, too.

Step Back and Inspect

As you play around with ideas and settings, occasionally click H and look at the image objectively. Think about how you would feel seeing it as an entry that isn't yours.

After a while, your mind is going to get fatigued, so save it in your Gallery (or submit it, if you'd be okay with that!), and come back after a few hours or days. Just don't forget to submit it if you do!

Analyse Others’ Entries

Everything, and I mean everything in life, is about practice. This includes these sorts of things, too! Whether you're a newcomer to Dreamsnaps or not, I suggest checking out the subreddit.

I have learned a lot by looking at other people's entries, and through that, I've learned my own tricks (which I am sharing here today).

If you’re comfortable with it, there are some people who also post up their submissions for others to give them advice. From what I’ve seen, the community is wholesome and helpful!

Try to Have Fun!

I know competition makes it difficult to enjoy it, but by focusing on the fun element, I've enjoyed the experience more overall. It also gives me more patience to stick around and focus on the finer details.

This is another great reason to visit the subreddit: it's nice to pop up and share what you've created, especially if you're proud of it! And, who knows, maybe someone will give you some more advice.
