When Should You Get My Time at Sandrock's DLC?

When Should You Get My Time at Sandrock's DLC?

Pathea Games' third entry to their My Time at franchise (My Time at Evershine) is set to release soon-ish, so whether you're revisiting the series (like I did) or picking it up as a newcomer, you might consider getting the DLC for My Time at Sandrock. I'm here to help you find out when you should!

In total, there are 16 DLCs (one of them being the Alienware Gift, which is a free one). Some of them are the usual (like soundtrack and artbook), others are furniture and clothing, and two of them are unique: extra missions and a creature-collecting expansion... and I own them all! So, here are my thoughts on them.

Decor & Player Outfits

This category includes the following DLC: Cute Critter Furniture Pack, Far East Furniture Pack, Interior Decorator Pack, and Builder’s Beach and Ball Clothing Pack.

If you're a player who particularly loves decorating and changing outfits, I recommend getting the clothing and furniture packs early on if you like what's in them. I spent the whole game changing my get-up according to the occasion, and I used a lot of the furniture items throughout the whole game.

This is especially true since in My Time at Sandrock players have so much more freedom to build, so my home ended up being more like a massive mansion. These DLC helped me keep it varied since the get-go, so if you enjoy aesthetic stuff, there's no point in leaving it until the end.

Additional Content for Romanceable NPCs (Outfits & Quests) — Spoiler Warning!

This category includes the following DLC: Starlight Collection 1, Starlight Collection 2, Starlight Collection 3, Summer Heat Collection 1, Summer Heat Collection 2, Summer Heat Collection 3, and Love Chronicles

Another way to embrace fashion is by getting outfits for 12 of the romanceable characters across the three Starlight and Summer Heat packs. The first collection has Qi, Elsie, Grace, and Logan; the second has Ernest, Mi-an, Catori, and Fang; and the third has Unsuur, Nia, Amirah, and Owen, to be specific.

While these cover a wide variety of personalities and both genders, this is a trickier DLC to suggest. If you find it that having people walking around looking fancy or in their swimsuits is weird or immersion-breaking, then you might want to rethink this one, obviously. If you don't mind (or even like it), then the only thing I would suggest is to wait and see who you'll like and buy it when you decide you're attracted to them! Don't worry; the game is long enough that you have time to figure it out.

Next up, I want to talk about the Love Chronicles DLC. This expansion brings new quest content for Fang, Logan, Mi-an, and Nia; as these are also romanceable characters, the outcome will change depending on whether you're friends with them or in a relationship.

The DLC offers some insight into the four characters' stories and personalities, more actions in the Interactions menu, and two more missions related to their memories. The quests aren't overly complex, but they do add more content to enjoy with them.

If you're interested in the DLC, I'd suggest getting it somewhere near the end. This gives you time to get to know the characters (especially Fang, who is endgame! Though if you're head-over-heels and can't wait for more to do with them, it's not a terrible idea to get it as soon as you're ready for that.

Monster Whisperer DLC

This category includes the following DLC: Pet Pack: Lil Gecko, and Monster Whisperer.

Last but not least, we've got the Monster Whisperer DLC. This expansion adds the ability to catch various monsters around Sandrock and the surrounding areas! Once you do, they can accompany you (even during combat) and get dispatched for various tasks, such as getting water.

I really enjoyed this expansion, as it gave me something to get excited whenever I uncovered more monsters in the area. Aside from the added collect-a-thon feature, I loved having a reason to decorate rooms in my house to plop them in!

So, if you like collecting creatures (even if it's just to use them as a minion to get you resources), then I highly recommend getting Monster Whisperer off the bat. It adds a ton of content that works from the beginning to the end of the game!

That's pretty much it for the DLC that isn't the soundtrack and artbook (though, who wouldn't love the OST?!). Hope I was able to help you figure out which ones to get!

My Time at Sandrock is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
