When Can You Complete the Anvil Refight in Blades of Fire Version 2.0?

When Can You Complete the Anvil Refight in Blades of Fire Version 2.0?

With the release of Blades of Fire on Steam, we also got the opportunity to get Version 2.0, which brought a lot of changes to the experience. It brought some great features like photo mode and New Game +, though most excitingly for those who love gameplay, is the new boss refights in the Anvil mechanic.

The refights give players the opportunity to face the major boss fights once again. While minor, mini-bosses don't take part, the major final fights of each area give you a chance to fight them again, offering rewards in the form of Arcana buffs for weapons that Adso can give players.

The first foe players will be able to refight is at the end of the Crimson Fort — players should be semi-familiar with fighting against Cavimo Rex after making it through the infinite waves of foes. Still, despite the fact that a refight is possible immediately after, that's not quite the perfect time to handle the Version 2.0 version.

In fact, the Crimson Fort refight is so difficult that in Steel mode (not even the hardest, Titanium), it's quite difficult to finish the boss in the required five-minute timeline for the smallest reward. For us, our refight was best taken after unlocking a few more offensive metals.

We recommend refighting the boss after unlocking the first set of laceration Arcane Steels, which should be ways into the Doyen Graves, the following area after the Crimson Fort. Up to that point, even landing consistent heavy blows against Cavimo Rex won't secure a victory.

That all said, there are no punishments for failing the anvil refights. This means that no weapon damage persists, no lost potions, and nothing happens for failure — Aran de Lira is merely brought out to the end of the anvil to refight at a later date.

So, for those who are interested in giving it a shot, it's still a fun challenge, though beating the Cavimo Rex refight wasn't possible on our end on Steel until after the Arcane Steels.

Blades of Fire 2.0 launched on PC via Steam on the 14th of May 2026. It's also out on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
