Access-Ability Summer Showcase 2025: Wednesdays

TRIGGER WARNING: Wednesdays talks about childhood sexual abuse.

Wednesdays is a hopeful narrative title touching themes about growing up after child sexual abuse. Featuring two different play forms — a park-management sim and memories that play as a visual novel — players will uncover the accessible narrative touching on a deep, meaningful story.

Of course, it being part of the Access-Ability Summer Showcase 2025, players can expect a slew of options to ensure that anyone can enjoy the game and experience the story. The video gives us an idea of what we can expect from Wednesdays in terms of accessibility, all of which you can find below:

  • Both forms of gameplay, the park and the visual-novel-esque sections, will be playable with mouse, keyboard, gamepad, or a combination of all inputs.
  • Wednesdays always launches in Windowed Mode, giving the user the opportunity to enable all sorts of accessibility tools before starting up the experience or selecting Fullscreen.
  • Including a slew of dialogue and a lot of writing, Wednesdays' narrative can be engaged with via manual clicking through the text or auto-scrolling with three different speeds to suit your liking.
  • Also available are several fonts for players to engage with, including choosing between a more Dyslexia-friendly font and font sizes, from very small to very big.
  • All dialogue can be revisited from the diary, whether you may have missed something that was said or just want to refresh your memory on what was happening in the narrative.
  • All dialogue is highly contrasted, keeping in mind different degrees of colourblindness.
  • In Park Mode, the cursor speed can be changed to the user's liking, and the drag-and-drop feature can be deactivated for those who struggle with chronic hand pain.
  • All animations can be turned off if they are distracting.
  • Music/Ambience and Sound Effects volume can be adjusted from 0% to 100%.
  • All sounds in the game are accompanied by a visual onomatopoeia.
  • In terms of difficulty, Wednesdays includes no precision, speed, or complex sequence of actions, meaning that it's a simple title to pick up and play.
  • There are no flashing lights, no haptic feedback, and it never requires the player to hold down any button.

If you're a fan of Wednesdays' in-depth accessibility options and wish to check it out and the narrative, then you're in luck! It's available on Steam right now, as of the 25th of March 2025, for £8.49.
