PC Gaming Show: 007 First Light
Tonight at the PC Gaming Show, IO Interactive discussed 007 First Light. Hakan Abrak the CEO discusses the game, and they also discuss with Dominic Vega, the Audio and Missions Director behind it.
In 007 First Light, they have a plan to focus on the different characters and locations that will invoke nostalgia for both the fans of the novels and films. There will be an iconic Aston Martin, as well as the Omega watches. All of these will add to the authentic Bond experience.
Rasmus Poulsen the Art Director discusses the world of the Art Direction, with Martin Emborg, the Narrative and Cinematic Director, discussing the changes that they made. For example, 007 First Light explores the world of a younger James Bond, before he truly becomes 007. So, they don’t cherry pick qualities, and instead, they show his best, most well-known qualities to becoming the colder and more callous agent that they’ll recognise.
The story focuses on the harsh, political world and how a young man will change in his journey. There will be a unique environment, gadgets, and plenty of other cool features. IO Interactive have focused on a creative approach, all coming from the perspective of long-time fans of the series.
They’ll be taking in their experience from making the Hitman games, but also utilising this in a way that will make a more distinct game in the form of 007. While they’re used to creating the villain, it’s a change for them to have a more heroic character, with brutal and action-packed fights.
You can expect some intense car chases and more, with the production of the game pushing beyond anything else they’ve done before. With this, they’ll deliver an experience that will deliver the fun environment that fans of the 007 series will look for.
007 First Light will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
