MIX Summer Game Showcase: The Last Caretaker

The Last Caretaker is an upcoming Steam Early Access title by Channel 37 Ltd. Take control of the titular last of his kind, reawakened after centuries of being dormant — humanity has gone extinct, and you're left without a role or purpose thenceforth... but not all hope is lost.

Earth has been flooded, the metal skyline rusts actively, but as the last Caretaker robot, your mission is simple: find the Seed Vaults containing the last of human seeds, reactivate the Lazarus Complex, and send the last of humanity into the stars. Your mission will be blocked by machines still working their protocols, and it'll be your job to ensure that extinction is not the end but a new beginning.

The checklist is simple: find humans, get their seeds, activate Lazarus, and take care of the intricate incubation process. Nutrient flow, memory data integration, caring for the biopods, and bettering your equipment while you finish your mission.

Here's what you can expect from The Last Caretaker:

• Better your equipment and upgrade your incubation protocol to make it easier, such as unlocking advanced biopods or synthetic caretakers.
• Discover the emotional imprints of humanity from the stories encoded within each seed.
• Defend the Lazarus Complex from rogue machines and the environmental threats still looming over Earth.
• Upgrade your equipment and create automated defence measures, including anti-natural-disaster protocols to ensure everything remains functional whilst under siege.
• Find and restore the final MOSES rockets to send the reborn humans away from their drowning world. From launch codes to fuel and recalibrating the navigation AI, you'll need to manage a lot to ensure that the new home for humans carries with it hopes for a new future.
