MIX Summer Game Showcase: Toxic Crusaders

Toxic Crusaders is back from 2024's Guerrilla Collective showing, sharing more information about the upcoming title! Retrowave's beat-'em-up brings its silly, enjoyable humour back to the showcase this year, giving us more information about the game.

The action-packed title lets you pick from seven characters (with up to four-player co-op) as you fight back the hordes of radiated monsters. Mutated thugs, zombie chickens, and all manner of creatures await you across seven levels full of toxic green waste waiting to be beaten to a pulp.

Here's what you can expect from Toxic Crusaders:

• Pick from seven characters calling back to the show's off-beat humour
• Play with three other players in four-player co-op to start your adventure in a whole group. Each character includes their own powers, moves, and playstyle, featuring Toxie, No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko.
• Fight through levels inspired by the 1990s show that never got renewed for a second season, complete with Easter eggs and cameos of fan-favourite, non-playable characters.
• Fully voice-acted cutscenes in the form of comic panels, introducing the humour in a stylistic flair from an all-star team comprised of TeamFourStar, industry veterans, and actual Troma film actors.
• Everything in Toxic Crusaders was approved by Lloyd Kaufman and the Angry Video Game Nerd, meaning you're getting an authentic experience.

This is Toxic Crusaders' second year at Guerrilla Collective (now MIX), and the latest trailer let us see a bit more gameplay, experience some of the voice acting, and gives us an official release window! Toxic Crusaders is going to release sometime in Q3 2025 for PC via Steam, the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5!
