Day of the Devs 2025: Blighted

Drinkbox Studios Lead Designer Ian Campbell and Art Director Augusto Quijano took to Summer Game Fest and Day of the Devs 2025 to announce their upcoming hardcore action metroidvania title, Blighted. The setting? A psychedelic Western nightmare full of mysteries and secrets.

Blighted’s dynamic difficulty system constantly changes the enemies, player, and world. The game will also follow the footsteps of the studio’s previous titles, supporting full co-op. As for the premise, the characters in this world have a secret ritual where seeds are planted in the dead, and over time, a fruit-bearing tree grows, which can give knowledge to those who eat said fruit. However, this ritual has led to the titular Blight upon the land, and you are the lone survivor.

Make your way through old civilisations and manifested nightmares when Blighted releases its demo later this year.
