Alan Wake 2, the awaited continuation of the tale of a writer and a lake, received a new Gameplay trailer at the 2023 Summer Game Fest. The trailer is set in what many thing Alan Wake does best, i.e. a spooky, dark and foreboding forest. Our protagonist wonders around, hearing disturbing sounds, until she finds herself face to face with something unnatural. Unlike the twitchy shadow monsters we've seen in Alan Wake, these new foes are slightly different. Wearing animal-themed masks (or possibly are animals?), these creatures seem much more threatening and tangible! We see how shots hardly phase them and our trusty flashlight seems less effective! It seems we'll have many things to fear in the darkness.
In addition to enemies, the trailer shows absolutely mind numbing animation and wounding, as we see how each individual shot the creature takes makes it both react and leave a disturbingly realistic wound on the body of our pursuer. The trailer also shows us a peek of the investigative gameplay, which I hope will have a larger role in the sequel. Alan Wake II is set to release on 17th October 2023, and I personally can't wait to see what Mr. Wake has typed up for us this time. What did you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
