Tips & Tricks for Forbidden Solitaire

So you’ve begun your immortality-chasing adventure in Forbidden Solitaire... Well, allow me to offer you some tips and tricks to get you out the other end (mostly) unscathed!

Don’t Worry About Dying

Despite the dark and horror themes in Forbidden Solitaire, I actually found it to be forgiving! I might have been running for my dear life, but it was evident that the developers just wanted me to have fun.

So, whenever I got stuck, I noticed that the rounds would become easier: more Jokers and playable moves would become available more frequently. Not only that, but there’s no penalty for death, so just have fun!

Don’t Be Afraid of Using Jokers

It’s easy to get caught in the idea that using Jokers at the wrong time will get you in trouble later on. Really, this is a problem with anything that resembles an “ultimate move” in games!

Thankfully, you can rest easy knowing you should use them whenever you see fit, not just in dire situations. Forbidden Solitaire is quite giving with them, and you’ll quickly fill up your hand again, so use them!

Use the Chaos Jokers

Some enemies have their own ace up their sleeves: Chaos Jokers. These glitchy cards will sometimes appear on the board, and their description too messy to decipher entirely — you’ll might just be able to surmise that something will happen to your Mana.

These broken Jokers aren’t your friends, but they can offer buffs! Furthermore, they won’t go away until you use them, taking up space from other cards. So, the best thing you can do is get rid of them as soon as you find a safe moment to do so.

Save Your Refreshes to Avoid Enemy Damage

Throughout battles, some enemies will fill up the board with hazardous cards; these can be anything from the Chaos Jokers to things like maggots. While they’re not terribly hard to defeat, underestimating them cost me a few lives! But I learned a trick…

By refreshing the tableau (the button to the left of the draw deck), the entire board gets reset. This takes away every card, including whatever hazards the enemy just placed down. Unlike Jokers, which can be replenished throughout the fight, refreshing the tableau can only be done once or twice (depending on your current build). I would suggest only using these on the enemy once they use an ability that drops hazardous cards!

Draw a Card Early to Avoid Enemy Actions

Another way I learned to negate the enemy’s action was to keep an eye on what they were going to do next. If it was a parry or a dodge, I would immediately draw a card, essentially skipping my turn!

If you do this, the foe will still use their action, whether you actually managed to do anything with your turn or not. This way, you’ll avoid misusing good hands and Jokers, only to realise it was all for naught.

Don’t Be Greedy — Spend All Your Currency!

As you play, you’ll earn currency that you can use in the shop to get Gems, Jokers, and even one-time use items. Before every round, you’ll have the ability to check the store to stock up on new things.

I played my entire game buying everything as soon as I was able to (which was basically every round or two). I never found myself short on currency, and my freaky Gem-filled hands came in handy many times!

That’s about it! Good luck getting immortality.
