Women-Led Games SGF Showcase: What They Don't Sea

What They Don'tSea is an upcoming 2D pixel platformer that blends peaceful with relaxing via the underwater environments. As Rachel Carson, a marine researcher, players will collect samples of new algea species.

For those who don't know, Girls Make Games is a series of summer camps and workshops that hope to inspire future generations of designers, engineers, and creators. They teach girls between the ages of eight and 18, and the camps culminate in Demo Day — a national competition! The winning team receives extended mentorship and the opportunity to have their game professionally produced and published.

What They Don't Sea was created by a group of middle school girls under the name of Team Atlantis. They created it during the three-week Girls Make Games summer camp in Durham, NC! They won the Grand Prize at GMG's Demo Day competition in 2019 and raised over $40K on Kickstarter.

The game was featured in this year's Women-Led Games, where we got a video that showcases the art and gameplay, including the various creatures that will try to help or harm the player.

What They Don't Sea released on itch.io now, and is also available on Steam!
