So I Tried… HuniePop

So I Tried… HuniePop

Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never tried before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I went for the racy HuniePop.

What I thought it was

A match-3 puzzle game with boobs. There might be some kind of story involved, but it’s not like I’ve heard HuniePop spoken of in the same breath as Portal or anything.

This screenshot is for the power-ups, not for the great bikini in the background...

What it actually is

A match-3 puzzle game with boobs. Whether I like the game or not, that’s an unassailable fact. Approached by a fairy, you (as either a man or a woman) must date as many women as possible! I think the fairy’s a huge voyeur or something. It’s fully voice acted, which surprised me, and it looks great. Not just the ladies, either. Okay, mainly the ladies… You ask them questions, buy them gifts and go on dates - which is the match-3 portion of the game.

Despite the characters interacting when you meet them, they never see you dating someone else...

Will I keep playing

I managed to unlock six women, with a seventh one available to meet, in my 30 minutes of playtime. The match-3 portion is more challenging than it would first appear, but if you keep chatting to the girls (which gives you money), you can upgrade how much each block gives you. Which is a long way of saying yes, I want to continue. It’s a nice way to pass the time, and because it’s not very resource intensive I can leave it open in the background when I need to do something else. Or hide it from my wife - depends on what’s happening on-screen at the time.
